Notes
Multi-User Entertainment Limited is a company founded by Roy Trubshaw, Richad Bartle, and Simon Daily (incorporated February 1st, 1985 in London, UK) to market and license the early online Multi-User Dungeon (MUDs) as well as design and create additional games. Today Muse Ltd. functions as an online game consultancy company.
From donor Scott Hartsman:
"Richard Bartle (co-creator of the first MUD) is a friend. He was about to throw away the original sign from his former office. I asked him for it because I knew of a museum who might be interested in it. So, he sent it to me. And now you have it. "
Of his connection with Bartle, Hartsman says:
"‘MUD1’ (root node of branch #1) was Richard Bartle’ss co-creation. Scepter, the root node of the other core branch of MUDs, was the first game that I ever worked on."
For more information about MUDs and MUSE, see http://mk.ucant.org/info/mudessay.pdf. See pp 5-6 for this specific topic.
